Johnson Residence

The perfect woodland backyard getaway, but still in the heart of Fayetteville, the Johnson Residence is a favorite showcase. The backyard was already completely mulched prior to the design due to all the shade, but that meant it was lacking in color. Our landscape designer, Susan, changed that! With a mixture of reds, greens, white, and a touch of purple, this backyard exploded with color. She also designed beautiful large slab Smoky Mountain Blue sandstone steps from the porch landing to the lower part of the yard. At the bottom, matching Smoky Mountain Blue stone edging and decomposed sandstone created a beautiful fire pit and walkway to the side gate. The slope featured an exposed cut in the topography that needed some structure to maintain it. Susan’s solution? A native boulder wall with all the beautiful lichen.
